Configure Specops Client using MSI Properties

The recommended way to configure Specops Client is by using ADMX templates and computer-based Group Policy settings.

If ADMX templates cannot be used, basic configuration settings can be applied during Specops Client installation using the MSI properties:

SPPONLY
CREDPROVIDERWRAPGUID

"SPPONLY"

The SPPONLY property is intended for customers who use only Specops Password Policy and do not want password-reset-related functionality and links.

Setting this property to 1 at install time applies local registry settings equivalent to the following Specops Client ADMX template settings:

Create all start menu shortcuts to password enroll/change/reset
Show the Password Reset link

Example:

msiexec /i Specops.Client.msi SPPONLY=1

"CREDPROVIDERWRAPGUID"

The CREDPROVIDERWRAPGUID property specifies the GUID of a credential provider that should be wrapped by Specops Client.

Before using this property, review the Third-party Credential Providers documentation.

Note

Only use this property if advised by your Specops representative.

Setting this property at install time applies a local registry setting equivalent to GUID of credential provider to wrap in the Specops Client ADMX template settings.

Example:

msiexec /i Specops.Client.msi CREDPROVIDERWRAPGUID={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

In the rare case where two credential providers need to be wrapped, set CREDPROVIDERWRAPGUID2 to configure the second provider to be wrapped.
