Client Components

WARNING

Before upgrading the Client component, make sure you read the upgrade instructions. Specifically, for organizations using uReset or Password Reset, the CefSharp Runtime MSI needs to be deployed at the same time or before deploying the Specops Authentication Client MSI. Read more on the Upgrade Authentication Client page.

WARNING

Cefsharp runtime is only required for organizations using Specops uReset, Specops Password Reset or Azure SSPR. Organizations using only Specops Password Policy do not need to install Cefsharp runtime.

Administrative templates (ADMX) for the Specops Authentication Client

To manage settings to client computers related to the Specops Authentication Client the ADMX templates for the Specops Authentication Client can be used. The ADMX templates come in two flavors, for On-prem Active Directory-joined computers or Azure AD-joined computers.

NOTE
For On-prem Active Directory-joined computers, the ADMX templates only need to be installed on Administrator computers, and should not be installed on client computers.
NOTE
For Azure AD-joined computers, the ADMX templates should be imported in Microsoft Intune.

Upgrading the client

NOTE
  • The Specops Authentication Client is compatible with Specops Password Policy, Specops uReset, and Specops Password Reset.
  • If you are upgrading to the latest version of the Client from version 6.3 or lower, and have previously made configuration changes using the ADMX/ADML template, such as configured the notification interval, you will need to manually migrate your settings. For more information, see Configuring the Client from the Administrative Template.
