How to adjust user counting/periodic scanning time
User counting has been renamed to periodic scanning and has been relocated for ease of access in Password Policy version 7.10. Below is each version’s method for what needs to be done for user counting/periodic scanning to be adjusted accordingly.
7.5 and Below:
In versions 7.5 and below, you would modify the value “CheckExpiredPasswordsStartTime” registry key in the location below and adjust the time using 24 hour time and restart the PDC for this to take effect:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SpecopsSoft\Specops Password Policy\Filter
Version 7.6-7.9:
Previously with user counting in versions 7.6-7.9, you would modify the value “DailyUserCountTime” registry key in the location below and adjust the time using 24 hour time and restart the sentinel service for this to take effect:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Specopssoft\Specops Password Policy\SentinelService
7.10
In version 7.10 this has changed completely. You do not have to modify the registry key. Instead, this task has been renamed from user counting to Periodic scanning and the change is made directly through the domain settings menu:
Once you click Edit, you will be able to modify the time and then you will need to restart the sentinel service or the PDC for this to take effect:
7.11 and up
In 7.11, you would go to the Periodic Scanning Tab and under scheduling click Edit:
and change the time and hit OK:
