Specops introduces Secure Service Desk

Specops Software announced today the release of Secure Service Desk. The solution addresses end-user verification gaps at the service desk.

Many organizations do not have a secure process for verifying users who call the service desk. Most of these calls happen to be to related to locked accounts due to forgotten or expired passwords. Yet, the process for verifying these users, and granting them access to their accounts, can leave the organization vulnerable to account takeovers.     

The service desk commonly uses static data pulled in from HR system to verify users. For example, the employee ID, employment history, or other personal information is used as security questions when granting access. However, with the continued increase of personally identifiable data online, social engineering allows cybercriminals to target users, and impersonate them. 

With Secure Service Desk, organizations can enforce user verification with stronger authentication before offering services and information. There are a variety of identity providers available during the verification process, including Mobile Code, Duo Security and, Okta Verify, all of which uplift security by ensuring that only the right users are granted access.
