Presales Engineer

We are seeking a Presales Engineer in the Western United States. The role is to be the expert on all our products and work alongside the North American sales team. The role’s features are greatly varied and involves a high degree of independence and pre- and post-sales acumen. You will be part of an international team and will be working primarily with North American prospects and customers.

This role requires someone with a forward-thinking mindset who rejects the status quo, and continually strives to learn and stay abreast of technology trends to identify their impact on our strategy and offering.

The Role

  • Be the technical expert on all Specops products
  • Responsible for product demonstrations via the web
  • Be a trusted advisor to both customers and the Specops sales team with good insight on industry trends
  • End-to-end troubleshooting in relation to customer testing/evaluation of the products
  • Work with new clients to successfully install and rollout our solutions:
    • Leading kickoff calls
    • Product installation/configuration
    • Some product training
    • Check-ins to ensure client rollout and product usage
  • Provide second level support when escalated by Specops Helpdesk
  • Able to create detailed reporting on any bugs and present findings
  • Work within the international support team and take guidance accordingly when required
  • Take full ownership of specific internal projects as assigned

Mandatory Skills

  • Specialist competency with at least 5 years’ experience in:
    • Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
    • Cloud based solutions, preferably within the Identity as a Service (IDaaS) industry
  • At least 2 years previous technical pre-sales experience working in different industries
  • “Consultant worthy”; must be able to understand the customers’ requirements
  • Self-motivated, keen to listen & learn, be curious and able to work under pressure
  • Be outgoing in personality and able to communicate at different levels to suit the task: from technical speak with Support staff right up to commercial presentations to Directors
  • Formal IT education
  • Travel is limited but able to travel around the US and Canada and occasionally international.

Key Technical Skills

  • High level competencies and in depth troubleshooting in:
    • Windows OS’s, Group Policy and password/identity management
    • Security and Cryptography
    • Cloud based solutions (Azure, SAML, OAuth)
    • Application and operating system deployment solutions
    • Group Policy, Active Directory design, AD replication, AD recovery
  • Competence in DNS, virtualization technologies, DCHP, IIS and PKI
  • Familiarity with the management of SQL server
  • Understanding of firewall and networking technologies
  • General programming/PowerShell/scripting knowledge considered a bonus
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, Salesforce a bonus
