How to: Stop remote account lockouts
Supporting a remote workforce is here to stay. The tricky part is letting people access their resources, securely. This is taking a toll on hard working IT support staff, which is also busy fielding common and costly calls such as resetting users’ passwords.
An obvious issue is account lockouts due to expired or forgotten passwords while working off the corporate network. Because users are remote, they can’t easily (if at all) connect to a domain controller (DC) on the corporate network, a requirement to update Active Directory credentials. The locally cached password and the Active Directory password become out of sync, which can only be solved by calling the IT service desk.
Specops uReset stops problems with locally cached passwords and cuts costs by allowing users to unlock, reset or change their own Active Directory passwords.
